ACELS (Ireland Advisory Council for English Language Schools)

The Advisory Council for English Language Schools (ACELS) was established in 1969 under the auspices of the Irish Department of Education & Science to control standards in EFL schools and organizations through an inspection/recognition scheme. ACELS administers the scheme which leads to School Recognition by the Department of Education & Science. The list of recognized ELT organizations is published on an annual basis - please follow the link below for The Official List of Schools and Organizations Recognized by the Department of Education & Science in 2003, which includes the schools" contact details. ACELS" remit also includes recognition of teacher training (TEFL) courses and the development of materials and examinations for overseas students.

MEI - RELSA (Ireland Recognized English Language Schools Association)

MEI-RELSA is an association of schools teaching English as a Foreign Language in Ireland. Marketing English in Ireland Ltd. (MEI) and the Recognized English Language Schools Association (RELSA) were officially merged as of 01/01/00. MEI-RELSA schools comply with the association"s requirements in regard to teachers, courses and school premises. In addition, all member schools are recognized by the Irish Department of Education.
