Wimbledon School of English London is a medium-sized and extremely friendly school, established in 1964 to teach English to students from overseas. We have about 180 students from over 30 different countries, and offer a wide range of courses to students aged 16 and above. We are situated in the centre of the attractive London suburb of Wimbledon, just 5 minutes from the station, shops and other facilities. Why Wimbledon School of English London? General English & Summer Vacation Courses: Are our most popular intensive courses and provide you with the opportunity to improve all areas of your English: Grammar and vocabulary speaking and listening, pronunciation, reading and writing. In the afternoon you practise the language you have learned in the morning and work on improving your fluency so that you can communicate in a wide variety of situations. Cambridge Examination Preparation courses are for students who are taking the examination - usually at the school, although we can occasionally accept students who have enrolled to take the exam in their own country. On your first morning we give you an entry exam to check your level. English For Academic Purposes plus IELTS Preparation is designed to help you if you are planning to study at an English-speaking college or university. The morning lessons cover the essential skills necessary for academic study. In the afternoon classes, you are prepared for the IELTS exam. The course also includes either a visit to a university, with the chance to experience a sample lecture, or a talk at the school from a visiting university lecturer. The BEC Vantage Course is designed for students at a Higher Intermediate or Advanced level of English. This course is suitable for you if you are planning to work in the world of business, and would like an internationally recognised qualification to help your career.

Host family: Most of our students like to stay with a Host Family to improve their English and to learn about our way of life. \'Host Families\' vary from a couple with children to someone living alone. All our families live near the school and you will be able to come to school easily on foot or by local public transport. The maximum journey time is about 20 minutes. We guarantee that the family will be welcoming, friendly and willing to talk to you the home will be clean and comfortable and you will have your own single room you will be given a varied, balanced diet you will be able to have a bath or shower every day you will not be placed with another student who speaks the same language your accommodation will be changed if you are not happy for any reason.

We take your learning seriously but we also want you to relax, make friends, and enjoy the most of your time in England. Our sports and social programme includes: Weekly social evenings in school, which give you the chance to meet other students and make new friends. School clubs, such as video club and singing club. Full-day excursions to famous places such as Cambridge, Brighton and Stratford upon Avon. Student discos at a local venue. Excursions to London musicals. A wide range of sports such as squash, badminton, tennis, volleyball, football and bowling.
