Barcelona is, with no doubt, one of the most attractive cities in Spain with a wide cultural and leisure offer. It is exceptionally located: bathed by the sea and well communicated with the rest of European countries. It is a modern, cosmopolitan city that has preserved its historical heritage shaped through many centuries. Its geographical location, as a strategic point in Europe, together with the open character of its people explains why Barcelona experiences a continuous cultural enrichment. Walking along the Gothic Area, the Rivera or the Raval, you will discover one of the best preserved medieval quarters in the world. It is masterworks like the Sagrada Familia or La Pedrera what gives you a good reason to admire Barcelona. These are real architectonic wonders signed by our most international architect, Antoni Gaudí. Among the most interesting museums you can visit are: Picasso Museum, Museum of Contemporary Art of Barcelona (MACBA), Fundació Joan Miró and National Art Museum of Catalonia (MNAC). Barcelona is a city oriented to the sea, which allows you to enjoy many open places like its beaches, the Port Olimpic, the Tibidabo or the Montjuïc Mountain. Overall, it is an ideal city to discover exceptional monuments and unexpected places. Since communications within Barcelona run smoothly, we recommend you to use public transport to move around the city. Accommodation is an essential part of your stay in Barcelona. That's why it is very important to us that you feel comfortable. We offer you accommodation in families, shared flats or student residences, according to your interests and needs. We carry out a meticulous selection and an exhaustive tracking of the accommodation. We do our best to offer you a place located as close as possible to the school or else well communicated by public transport. Whichever option you choose, accommodation will be available from the Sunday before the beginning of the course until the Saturday after the end of the course. You may also book some extra days, depending on your needs. More than three extra days will be deemed a full week. FAMILY Staying with a family gives you the chance to get to know everyday life in a closer way, as well as to practice your knowledge of the language. Moreover, living together with a family means adapting yourself to customs and norms that will help you familiarize with our culture. You will have to get used to new meal hours or to the time zone when you phone. In the case of families hosting several students, we take special care that they have different nationalities. SHARED FLAT Sharing a flat offers you the chance to live together with students of different nationalities. All the flats are equipped with television, a completely fitted kitchen, washing machine and iron. There is no telephone. If you choose this type of accommodation, you must remember that you ARE NOT living alone but with other students. You should respect each other and keep the flat clean. STUDENT RESIDENCE This type of accommodation is available during the summer only (we recommend you to get further information at the school office). Staying in a student residence is something between staying with a family and sharing a flat: in the residence you have more independence than in a family and compared to a shared flat you don't have to worry about cooking or cleaning. The residences are ruled by people responsible for their smooth running (food, cleaning, maintenance, control, etc.). They are open 24 hours and have a caretaker at night. OTHER ACCOMMODATIONS If you prefer another type of accommodation, we can offer you a private flat or a room in a hotel. Contact the school for further information.
