ELS/Boston is located 13 kilometers from downtown Boston on the 29-hectare campus of Mount Ida College (MIC) in Newton, MA. Newton is a small city suburb of Boston considered the the 2nd safest city in the USA (according to 2004 Morgan Quitno Press). During the school year MIC runs a free shuttle bus to the train station taking students to Boston. Boston is a city known worldwide for its prestigious universities including Harvard, and M.I.T. as well as being America's birthplace. Students can explore historical sites or enjoy Boston's exciting nightlife (nightclubs, trendy restaurants and chic cafes). Boston also boasts world class entertainment and museums as well as world champion sports teams.

Courses:
Semi-Intensive English Program (year-round), Intensive English Program (year-round), American Culture Program - ACP (summer only).
ELS uses the proven communicative approach to language learning. This appropach makes for lively, interactive classes where students engage in a wide range of activities. Classes are held Mondays through Fridays during the daytime. The Intensive English Program (30 lessons per week) is a complete English program with classes including: Structure/Speaking Practice, Reading/Writing, Electives (including Conversation) and Multi-Media Lab. Our Semi-Intensive English Program (20 lessons per week) provides students with the opportunity to improve their English skills while exploring cities in the USA. The Semi-Intensive Program (morning only) classes include: Structure/Speaking Practice, Conversation, Electives and/or Multi-Media Lab. Electives vary by location but usually include TOEFL Preparation, American Idioms, Pronunciation, and others. The summer only American Culture Program ($915 per 4 weeks) includes 15 lessons per week of Structure/Speaking Practice and 1 American Culture seminar per week. Note: 2 and 3 week abreviated study option also available upon request.

On-campus dormitory is available to ELS students and features shared suite-style quadruple and double rooms with 2 bathrooms per suite. Each room offers free local phone access. Meals included in campus cafeteria. Homestays feature single rooms living with an American family. All homestays are in the suburbs so require a bus or commuter train ride to reach the ELS Center. Students are responsible for their own transportation to and from the ELS Center. Daily breakfast and dinner is included.

Students at ELS/Boston can enjoy campus life in a quiet and safe area while having easy access to all of Boston's attractions. Boston is also close to beaches and New England mountains and offers train access to New York City and other major USA cities in the northeastern USA.
