Courses:
Intensive English, Global Business English, Special Topics and Electives, University Preparation, English for Medical Professionals and English for Business Professionals, Custom-designed programs for specific needs, including intelligibility (accent reduction).
Intensive English: Drexel ELC offers four 11-week terms per year, beginning in January, March, June, and September. Half-term (6-week) courses are available during the first or second half of each term. There are 6 levels of instruction. Testing is done at the start of each term. Small classes are emphasized (average 10-12, maximum 15-16 students). Certificates are awarded upon successful completion of a full or half term. At least 18 class hours per week are required: 3 hours each morning of Speaking/Listening and Reading/Writing, plus one 3-hour Special Topic chosen from academic, language skills, business or cultural topics, or test preparation (TOEFL). Optional free grammar, pronunciation, and conversation classes are available (up to 6 hours per week). Global Business English Pre-MBA program(GLOBE): Available to students with a university degree who place into ELC level 4 or higher. It features 18 hours of required classes including The Language of Business Information, an integrated skills class that focuses on concepts and key vocabulary related to specific business topics. Other program features include MBA class observation and networking opportunities plus lectures and workshops. ELC Plus: Students who complete at least one term at ELC Level 4 or higher may enroll in a Drexel University course for credit as part of their continuing English studies.

Drexel ELC students may participate in Drexel University's meal plan and eat in the student cafeteria. A variety of different meal plans is available ($1,000 per term; not available during summer).

Activities

Regular activities:  Weekly activities program - Visits to historical sites, art and cultural events, shopping and entertainment centers, sports events, outdoor and recreational activities. At least one overnight trip is offered each term.
Possible activities:  Conversation Network Party; Philadelphia City Tour; Trip to Washington, D.C.; Midterm Lunch; American Barbecue at the World House; Canoeing on the Delaware River; Allison Rose Fellowships - Scholarships awarded each term to two or three continuing full-time students.
