Human International Academy (HIA) is located in San Diego, California. Our students are offered a great learning environment in America’s finest city. HIA offers English programs all year round. Our regular programs include: Intensive English, American Culture, TOEFL Preparation, English & Volunteering and Business English. HIA also offers special programs, combining English instructions and sports, such as surf, water polo, golf and tennis. HIA has something for everybody: our Silver Program for people 50+ years old, our Parent & Child program for families and our Teacher Training Program for teachers are just a few examples. HIA takes care of all the students needs: we provide an excellent accommodation program, with American families or in residence. In addition to our academic programs, HIA offers social, recreational and cultural activities on a regular basis.

Our San Diego campus is set in the heart of San Diego, just minutes away from downtown and the beaches. San Diego is a laid-back city with a cosmopolitan flair. "Approximately 1.2 million people live in San Diego, making it the 7th largest city in the United States. Although he city's population keeps on increasing, San Diego has not lost its small town ambieance, and it retains a strong connection with its Hispanic heritage and culture" (Frommer's Portable San Diego, p1).

Students can choose to study 15, 20 or 25 hours per week. Our school issues the I-20 form for full-time F-1 visa students. After the completion of the course, student receives a course certificate and a progress report.

Homestay: Through our affiliated homestay agencies, we are able to match you with a most suitable familiy in the Mission Valley area of San Diego, as close to the campus as possible. This is the best way to experience American's daily life, earn American culture, and practice living English. The family provides you with two meals per day (breakfast and dinner) and the convenience of a home (sheets and towels). You have a private room and caring family environment. In return, you are asked to follow the rules and lifestyle set by the hosting family, and to provide us your complete arrival information at least one week in advance, so your family can prepare for your arrival. Bring some pictures of your country, relatives, friends, pets, activitie and environment. Your host family is eager to learn about you as you are about them! Residence Club: Vantaggio is located downtown San Diego, walking distance to the mall and supermarket. The apartments are fully furnished, including sheets, blankets, and kitchen utensils. There is an onsite computer room with internet access. Vantaggio also has laundry facilities, a fitness center and a deli/market. Your apartment has cable TV and the cost includes water and electricity charges. You must arrange for your own transportation to and from the airport. The tramway is a good and very affordable solution to and from the school campus. Meals are not included, but you can cook your own food. You have to share the community kitchen. You are also asked to follow the property rules (for example, no smoking indoors and no alcohol except in your room).
