In the language teaching world, the name GEOS is considered to be a mark of excellence. The schools are situated in central Sliema, Malta’s commercial capital, close to modern shopping areas and Malta’s longest sandstone beach. Students can swim or sunbathe within a few metres of the schools from late May to early October or stroll along the lovely 4 km promenade in winter and evenings. All amenities, such as banks, foreign exchange bureaux and international telephone services are close by. Valletta, Malta’s magnificent 16th century capital and a World Heritage City is only 10 minutes away by ferry boat, while a 15 minutes bus-ride in the opposite direction takes you to Paceville, one of the Mediterranean’s hottest night spots, where the young and young-at-heart can find a myriad of discos, pubs, restaurants, cinemas including Europe’s biggest IMAX screen, a new state of the art ice-rink and several other attractions.

The class programme for GEI and GESI courses focuses on the four basic skills of language teaching, that is speaking, listening, writing and reading with strong emphasis on language as a communication tool. The students are always encouraged to participate and interact with their teachers and among each other. At GEOS English is not acquired just by learning its basic rules, but by getting a supervised opportunity to put those rules into practice, just as much as no-one can ever learn how to drive a car by getting a course on how a car works without ever sitting at the driver\'s seat.

Students may be interested in experiencing a home stay with a Maltese family. This will give them the chance to get to know Malta in the best possible manner by enjoying warm hospitality, good food and being treated as members of the family. All host families are English-speaking and are carefully selected by the Student Welfare Officer for their interest in hosting foreign students and their willingness to share Maltese culture and traditions with their guests. GEOS\' guesthouse is centrally situated in Sliema, a major seaside and tourist resort all year round. This very favourable position will definitely please every taste, that of the younger generation, who enjoy night-life attractions and water-sport facilities at hand, families with all conveniences and the beach for children close by, as well as the senior citizens who appreciate a quiet, safe stroll along the fashionable Sliema promenade, with plenty of coffee shops for quick refreshments.

Students can participate in cultural activities and visit local tourist attractions with GEOS staff and students, as well as enjoy the nightlife of Malta with events hosted by popular DJs. GEOS endeavours to give students the opportunity to participate in the local way of life, provides advice and information related to the local culture, effectively introduces the activities program as an extension of the classroom
