The goal of VEC is to provide programs that fulfill the needs of English as a Second Language students. Since many ESL students already have some knowledge of grammar, our programs emphasize the importance of speaking and comprehension skills. We do everything possible to maintain an environment that supports our classroom instruction. Consequently, our "English only" policy is a fundamental aspect of the school philosophy. We ask students to use only English, in and out of class. Another important aspect of our philosophy is class size. There are usually 8 to 12 students per class. This intensive instruction helps you learn rapidly.

The CRGS releases annual rankings of 118 major cities. It evaluates living and environmental conditions. Several times, Vancouver Canada has won a silver medal as the second best city in the world. For three years in a row, Vancouver was voted as one of the top ten "best destinations" in the world by the readers of Condé Nast Travele magazine. For ESL students, Vancouver Canada is ideal. English Courses & Programs in Canada At VEC, we realize that each student has unique language abilities. Our system assesses students' written and oral capabilities, so that every student is placed in an appropriate level for each skill. If you are in the perfect level, you will learn quickly. Our courses are carefully planned and administered to eliminate unnecessary repetition. We normally have 45 to 55 classes, divided into 16 levels. As well as our Core ESL Program, we offer a number of courses and programs for special purposes. TOEIC Preparation Program Our TOEIC Preparation Program helps students achieve high TOEIC scores. It does not focus on general English language skills. There are 3 levels. Pre-TOEFL Preparation Program Students review basic grammar, build vocabulary and develop reading and listening skills. Students also do some a practice TOEFL test. Intermediate TOEFL Preparation Program Students learn TOEFL test strategies while enhancing their reading, writing and grammar skills. Students also do practice TOEFL tests. Advanced TOEFL Preparation Program Same as Intermediate TOEFL, but material covered is at a more advanced level. Material studied in Intermediate TOEFL is not repeated in Advanced TOEFL. Super TOEFL Program This courses focuses on Computer Based Test (CBT) strategies. Students also enhance vocabulary and writing skills. Much of the time is spent in the computer lab. Cambridge Preparation Program The Cambridge exam measures competence in all language skills. We offer Cambridge preparation in three levels: FCE, CAE and CPE. English Pronunciation Students learn how to reduce common pronunciation errors and develop more natural intonation and stress patterns. English Writing Students learn how to express and obtain ideas for writing, and develop Western-style writing techniques. Pre-Business English Program Prepares students for the Business Internship Program and business elective courses. Business Internship Program Combines Business English courses with practicum assignments. Students' English language skills improve, while they gain practical work experience. Vacation Study Program Combines morning classes with afternoon sightseeing and leisure activities. This program is offered as a total package, with one fee that includes Tuition, Homestay, Airport Reception, and most Activities. TEFL Certificate Program Our schools in Vancouver and Guadalajara both offer programs for people who wish to Teach English as a Foreign Language. You may choose to study in either Canada or Mexico.

The best way to enjoy the Vancouver lifestyle is to live in homestays with Canadian host families. Homestay accommodation is fun, safe, and cheap. You will have a private room and three daily meals at your Canadian homestay. Vancouver English Centre has thousands of host families that meet the various needs of our homestay students. We arrange homestays to suit our students' personal preferences. Although most students in Vancouver live in homestays, we also arrange hotels or furnished apartments.
