Pan Pacific College

Established in 1988, Pan Pacific College is one of the oldest and most respected language schools in Vancouver. We are fully bonded and registered with the Private Post Secondary Education Commission of British Columbia (PPSEC). Our college has a strong focus on communicative English, meaning that our ESL courses encourage oral communication (speaking and listening). Our goal is to enable students to use English with efficiency and confidence. Also, our test-preparation courses (TOEFL/TOEIC) are known for their high standards of achievement and quality. Finally, our TESL and TEC programs are designed for advanced students who want to learn skills for teaching English as a Second Language. The curriculum offered has been designed by professional educators and offers a wide variety of activities and resources. In addition, our teachers are encouraged to continually perfect the curriculum in order to keep our courses fresh and dynamic. Fully aware that studying in a foreign country can be an extremely challenging endeavor, we pride ourselves on fostering a family atmosphere in the college. Along with our excellent teaching staff, Pan Pacific College also has student-coordinators for Japanese, Korean and Spanish students. Our students know that they can turn to their teachers and administration for any concerns that may present themselves. Pan Pacific College is recognized by Immigration Canada, and can issue an Official Letter of Acceptance, required for all Student Authorizations (Student Visa).

Set between the mountains and the sea, the city blends cultures and landscapes, allowing visitors to enjoy a modern, cosmopolitan city alongside the great outdoors. A temperate year-round climate makes Vancouver enjoyable in any season, though the winter months do bring a string of rainy days.

In addition to the communicative approach and its process-oriented focus, we integrate the lexical approach. The importance of the lexical approach is its explicit instruction of language as it is used by native speakers in the form of collocations. Collocational competence provides the context in which grammar is not only learned, but mastered, and in which fluency is acquired. PPC's teaching philosophy is to help all students improve their English skills in a classroom environment that is stimulating, successful, and comfortable for each student. All our curricula are student-centred, which gives each student the maximum opportunity to practice speaking English. PPC is dedicated to implementing a variety of instructional strategies to meet the needs of students with different levels of English ability and diverse cultural and professional backgrounds.

Living with Canadian families in a Homestay is a great opportunity for students to practice English, make new Canadian friends and acquaintances, and learn about Canadian Culture and life. Pan Pacific College carefully screens and monitors all homestay families, and matches students individually to families that best suit their needs, interests and lifestyle (smoking/non-smoking, children/no-children, pet/nopet, etc.). All homestay families include the following: 3 meals a day, private bedroom with desk, safe and friendly environment, family outings and activities, convenient location for transportation, use of television, telephone, laundry, etc.
