MLS International College

MLS International College (Management and Language Specialists) was established in 1987 to provide English, Specialised English, Management and Business Communications Courses for adult overseas students. MLS also provides University Entrance Programmes - Undergraduate Access and Pre-Masters Degree for those students wishing to enter British Universities. In addition MLS provides a wide range of specialised courses for commercial, industrial and government organisations. Many clients select MLS International College because its size guarantees a high degree of personal attention. The College offers excellent, comfortable study rooms which create a friendly, relaxed atmosphere for intensive study. The maximum class size is 12, although the average is often only 8 per class, which is large enough for interaction, role playing and class discussion, yet small enough for personal tuition. The students have the maximum opportunity to increase their fluency and accuracy as well as to increase their use and knowledge of English or Specialised Management/Business related subjects.

MLS College is situated on two sites in the centre of Bournemouth, close to the main shopping centre, restaurants and leisure facilities. Bournemouth is a premier holiday resort with miles of sandy beaches, with national parks nearby and excellent shopping and leisure facilities. Tourism and education are major industries and the town is a centre for banking, insurance and high-tech industries. Bournemouth is within easy reach of London and has good communication links with other parts of Britain. The area to the west of Bournemouth is designated as a World Heritage Site and is famous for its geological importance and beauty. The area is favoured with a warmer than average climate for Britain and offers an excellent learning environment.

MLS provides a wide range of General, Intensive and Specialised English Courses at all levels. In addition MLS offers Certificate, Higher Certificate and Diploma Courses in Business, Marketing, Advertising, Public Relations, Travel, Tourism, Hospitality Management and Business Computing combined with English Language at the appropriate level. These courses offer an opportunity for students to take a range of external vocational examinations as well as entry to Higher Education establishments. Our English language staff work closely with the specialist lecturers who are drawn from successful backgrounds in industry and commerce. Students are therefore able to improve their English Language skills, English Language for Special Purposes and Business/Management related subjects in all specialised programmes.

Local Host Families Single room accommodation. Families situated within reasonable distance of the college. Half-board Monday to Fridays and full-board at weekends. Special arrangements for married couples. Twin rooms available. Self-catering in host family available. MLS takes great care in selecting accommodation on behalf of its students. Students have a choice of ‘host family’ accommodation, apartments, guesthouses or hotels. Most students’ stay with an English host family and this is recommended for the advancement of English language learning. Each family is visited by our Accommodation Officer who ensures that a high quality of service is maintained.

Regular social evenings are organised for both staff and students. At the weekend excursions to local places of interest are arranged for students, who are accompanied by MLS staff. Recent visits have included London, Bath, Oxford, Windsor Castle, Stratford-on-Avon and many more.
