L'Italiano Porticando, situated in the pedestrian area of Turin's historic city centre, the Quadrilatero Romano, is a small, friendly and informal school for Italian language and culture for foreigners. The school was founded at the beginning of 2005 with the aim to be a cut above ordinary language schools in Turin and to provide a specialized centre and point of reference for those who want to study the Italian language and culture in Turin. Turin is in a city well-known as an industrial centre, but little-known by tourists, Turin has, however, an incredible artistic and cultural legacy to offer to those who love Italy, its language and its culture.
The school’s teachers are selected with great care according to their education and their experience as teachers for Italian language and culture to foreigners. All teachers are native speakers, have a university degree, and are highly motivated and experienced in supporting foreign students in their first meeting with Italy and the Italian language and during the language learning process. Together with real professionals of the region activities like cooking workshops, wine tastings, sight-seeing tours and visits to museums will be organized. In this way language learning will become a real cultural experience for those who want to learn Italian in Turin.

The Course Offerings
The Courses
L'Italiano Porticando offers to its students

The courses are organized according to the level of the students, i.e. for

The main target of the course is to improve communication skills, nevertheless listening comprehension as well as reading and writing abilities will also be focused on.
This is also valid for the language holiday courses as well as for the special topic and the job related courses.
Private lessons, courses in small groups and standard courses can be integrated with the school's cultural courses, which enrich the language course with knowledge about the places visited and with many different extra-curricular activities.
For those who want to do more than a simple language course the school proposes the combined courses, which offer the possibility to combine a 3 or 4 h/day standard course with additional private lessons, a course on history, on history of arts, on architecture, on cinema, business Italian or with Tango classes.
The duration of a course will depend on the type of course chosen. Language holidays can be extended individually by the participants through adding private lessons or courses in small groups.
Accommodation
Accommodation
The accommodation depends on the choice and budget of the student, but also on the type of course chosen. For language and educational trips, for example, it could be a farmstay, a bed and breakfast, a charming little hotel, an old castle transformed into a hotel or an appartment. The school, however, will provide a service to their students in order to find suitable accommodation.
Activities
At the beginning of each month the school presents to its students the activities of the month (normally 2 activities per week). All of them are free of charge. The student has to pay for museums' or the tranfers. During all activities the students will comunicate with their teachers and classmates in Italian, thus having an additional possibility to practise the language.
