The Course Offerings
HHH Courses
HHH still offers 25 hour per week tuition!
An Australian government regulation has reduced the minimum contact hours for students on student visas to 20 hours per week. However, HHH will continue to offer all its daytime English language programs for 25 hours per week at no extra cost. With the best teachers and English language programs plus an extra 5 hours per week in class, HHH is the right choice for your Australian study adventure!
English Only Policy
To maximize language learning, HHH has an “English Only” policy.
Course Duration
HHH programs are designed in modules of 12 weeks. All students undertake a level assessment in weeks 6 and 12.
International guidelines for IELTS study suggest students should allow 10-12 weeks to move .5 of an IELTS Bandscore.
General English
CRICOS Course Code: 028295E
The English skills gained in this intensive course will help students to actively participate in and enjoy the Australian way of life. These skills will also equip them to travel, study or work in any other English-speaking country. Students study speaking, listening, reading and writing as well as develop their vocabulary, grammar and pronunciation through classroom activities, self-access study and excursions.
Each General English course at HHH is tailored to suit an individual’s level of English from Elementary to Upper Intermediate level.
IELTS Exam Preparation
HHH International College has a reputation for providing excellent preparation for students planning to sit for the IELTS test. All of our IELTS teachers have had wide experience with test requirements and are very supportive of their students. In addition, the Independent Learning Centre at HHH is open for self-study every afternoon after class.
HHH’s IELTS program is divided into four levels to ensure that students are studying in the appropriate class to acquire the sound language basis and strategies necessary for success in the IELTS test. Each student’s progress is monitored and they are able to progress to a higher level as their skills develop. IELTS training is available in a day program of 25 hours as well as an evening program of 20 hours. Current levels for IELTS training are as follows:
Foundation for IELTS CRICOS Code: 028296D
Intermediate level of General English required, i.e. IELTS Band 4+
IELTS Exam Preparation 1, 2, 3 CRICOS Course Code: 028297C
Upper Intermediate to Advanced level of General English required, i.e. IELTS Band 5+
IELTS General Training Exam Preparation
For students planning to apply for Permanent Residency, TAFE or other college entry, HHH offers first-class exam preparation classes in General Training IELTS.
Fulltime Study: General Training students spend 4 days in an Academic IELTS class to receive tuition in grammar, essay structure, listening, speaking and reading skills. For 5 hours on Fridays they receive specific training in letter writing, essay writing, Australian studies, speaking, listening and reading to comply with the requirements of the General Training curriculum.
Part time Study: Students are also welcome to attend the one day intensive General Training IELTS on Friday of each week of the term.
Evening Classes – IELTS Exam Preparation
This exciting new program is now offered for 20 hours per week Monday to Friday. HHH has established a reputation for academic excellence and strong IELTS success, and this same quality is now available in a condensed course.
Cambridge Exam Preparation
Preparation for the Cambridge First Certificate in English (FCE)
CRICOS Course Code 038918G
An upper-intermediate level examination, FCE is recognized globally and demonstrates sufficient proficiency in English to work in administrative and managerial positions in many industries. The FCE is also recognized by many universities internationally as a prerequisite for undergraduate and postgraduate study.
Preparation for Cambridge Certificate in Advanced English (CAE)
CRICOS Course Code 038917G
An advanced-level examination, the CAE is accepted by almost all universities and colleges in Britain and in many others throughout the world as proof that an individual has reached a level of English suitable for entry to courses of higher education.
TOEIC
HHH International College chooses to use the TOEIC exam as its General English exam for assessment. Many former HHH students have found that success in the TOEIC examination equates to success in the job market, and as a service to our General English and Cambridge students (Upper Intermediate level and above) a FREE TOEIC examination is offered at the end of each 6-week session.
Study Pathways to University
HHH has a direct pathway to Central Queensland University and Australian Catholic University. On the recommendation of our IELTS teachers and the Director of Studies, HHH students do not have to sit a formal test to be accepted into these universities. Students will be eligible for acceptance into Bachelor and Postgraduate programs provided they successfully complete the appropriate HHH IELTS Preparation class levels and meet other requirements stipulated by the universities.
Study Tours
HHH is always pleased to welcome High School and University students in organised Study Tours, and design a program to suit specific needs. A typical week for Study Tour students might include English tuition in the morning and an extension activity in the afternoon. To maximise their Australian travel experience, HHH can also arrange excursions at the weekend, perhaps to our world-famous Gold Coast beaches, to experience our unique wildlife, or to camp overnight in Brisbane’s rainforest hinterland
Accommodation
Homestay accommodation is with an Australian family. Three meals a day are provided, seven days a week.
Homesaty is an excellent opportunity to put your English skills to practice.
Many homestay families take students to visit some of the beautiful natural areas in and around Brisabne such as park, zoos, fun parks, beaches and mountain areas.
It is also an excellent opportunity to learn about Australian culture and the Australian way of life.
Activities
Typical Ativity
Sunday's trip to the Gold Coast went very well. We couldn't have wished for
better weather (real sunscreen weather).
Burleigh Head National Park with beautiful Tallebudgera Creek was a good
introduction. On the boat trip, the students were amazed at the colour of
the water and how clean it was. Naturally, Surfers Paradise beach was a big
hit. We finished on the Spit at sunset looking back at Surfers Paradise.
This Sunday's tour to the Glasshouse Mountains and Caloundra is a delightful
combination of bushwalk and seaside.
First, we follow a cement path to the top of Mt Beerburrum for great views
of the Glasshouse Mountains. Then, we are going to "climb" Mt. Ngungun. It's
actually a challenging bushwalk but only for a short 50 metre section.
However, most people will find it necessary to put their hands on the ground
at some point. Nevertheless, the scenery, and, for some of the participants,
the sense of accomplishment (not to mention the photo opportunity) at the
top will make it all worthwhile.
Jeans and comfortable walking shoes are the order of the day. No high
fashion and definitely no high heels.
