Sun Pacific College

Sun Pacific College was established in 1980. At Sun Pacific College we teach English to international students and foreign languages to local Australians. We have a small class policy and provide an open and friendly learning environment. All teachers are qualified and native speakers of English. To ensure everyone has a rewarding and safe stay with us, there are foreign language coordinators to assist and support students with any matters inside and outside of the college. These include matters regarding education, accommodation, employment opportunities, entertainment, safety and travel.

Cairns is a very famous resort style city, located in tropical Far North Queensland, Australia. It is the gateway to the Great Barrier Reef and Rainforest Wilderness and creates a perfect study and holiday destination.

Sun Pacific College’s Intensive General English Course is very successful for learning English quickly and effectively. It is a communicative learner-centred course designed to build and enhance general speaking, reading, writing and listening skills. As well as giving learners the ability to understand and manipulate grammatical structures, there is a heavy focus on the acquisition of the communication skills necessary for learners to function in everyday situations. Australian culture is another important aspect of the course. The integration of culture in the course gives learners a better understanding of Australia, its people and culture.

STUDENT LODGE Sun Pacific College has a number of student lodges located just outside the Cairns CBD and within waling/riding distance from the college. Student accommodation is only available to students while they are studying at Sun Pacific College. All lodges are secure, fully furnished and maintained. All Sun Pacific College student lodges are fully equipped with all ameniities and items necessary for day-to-day living such as a stove, microwave, cutlery, crockery, toaster, kettle, refrigerator and bed linen. Hot water is available 24 hours a day in all houses. There are 2 to 3 computers in each lodge that are all connected to the Internet. A television and DVD player is also provided in each house. DVDs may be borrowed free of charge from the college.The computers, T.V and DVD player may be used free of charge 24 hours a day by students living in the student lodge. Meals are not supplied at the lodge. The lodge is set up for self-catering with a kitchen and all necessary utensils for students to prepare theit own meals. Students can bring their own lunch to the college. HOMESTAY Living with an Australian family is the best way to learn English and really experience Australian life. Sun Pacific College has a large list of local host families. Our accomodation officer visitis host families regularly for inspection. Sun Pacific College ensures all host families and their homes are of high quality. Our decision for selecting host families is based on the safety of the area, the proximity to public transport services, security, cleanliness, the occupations of the host parents and above all, a kind and caring environment. There are many factors we consider when matching students with sutable host families and we do our best to place students with families who have similar interests. SHARE HOUSE For those students who really would like to experience life with young Australians, we recommend living in a share house. There are many share houses in the Cairns area that we can recommend.

Sun Pacific College provides organised weekend activities for students. Reef trips, rainforest tours, overnight camping, outback tours etc are offered at discounted rates for students. Cairns is surrounded by magnificent nature and beautiful attractions, so why not visit them with your classmates?
