If you love nature, you have to come to Calgary. The Canadian Rocky Mountains are only a 45 minute drive from the city. You can visit the world famous Banff National Park and Lake Louise. All year round the Canadian Rockies offer breathtaking scenery and a variety of activities. There are also 6 world class ski hills located in and around Calgary. Many of which were used when Calgary hosted the 1988 Winter Olympics. The school is conveniently located right downtown next to the train station. It is only a few minutes walk to the main cultural and shopping areas.

Prices and availability are based on the seasons, so students should contact us if they are considering these alternative accommodations. Of course, our home stay program is the most popular choice of accommodations for everyone who wants a true Canadian experience! GEOS carefully screens all host families to be sure that they have the qualities necessary to provide our students with the best possible experience in Calgary! All GEOS families must also undergo a security check. The safety and happiness of our students comes first at GEOS.

Activities

Regular activities:  Weekly excursions consist of activities in and around the area: Canada Olympic Park, Glenbow Museum, Eau Claire Market, Science Museum, Activities (bowling, laser tag, pottery painting), watching sporting events (hockey, football,etc). Monthly excursions out of Calgary include: horseback riding, skiing/snowboarding, trips to Drumheller and Dinosaur museum, West Edmonton Mall and of course, the Rocky Mountains.

You can visit tourist attractions with GEOS staff and students. Trips and activities are provided at a nominal cost. We endeavour to give students the opportunity to participate in the local way of life, we provide advice and information related to the host culture and we introduce the activities programme as an extension of the classroom.
