Cape Town School of EnglishKapstadt, Südafrika The Language School
The Cape Town School of English, in South Africa, is a language school specialising in teaching English as a Foreign Language (EFL). Our students register to do short (2 weeks) or long (six months to 1 year) courses. Students come from all parts of the world but mainly from Europe, Africa and the Far East.
Many young (and not-so-young) people wish to travel to South Africa to see and experience our rainbow nation - a world in one country. As part of their travels and holiday booking, they also plan on doing a short English course. This may be for study or work purposes and the time periods could vary from 1 week to 2 months or more.
We assist individuals or groups in planning their trip to South Africa to study English. We also arrange accommodation, travel arrangements, airport transfers, car rentals and most other bookings.
The Location
We are situated outside of the city centre where it is safe for our students and where accommodation is readily available. Our premises are situated in an office building with 5 classrooms, a main office/reception area, a kitchen and staff room. Our classrooms are of varying sizes. In the classrooms we have whiteboards, desks, CD/tape recorders, TV and video facilities.
The Course Offerings
Our courses run continuously throughout the year. Students may enrol at any time and continue for as long as they need. Classes take place during the mornings, from 9:00am - 12:30pm each day, with a 30 minute break. Students may attend classes each day or 2 to 3 days per week.
We have Beginners, Pre-Intermediate, Intermediate, Upper-Intermediate and Advanced classes. Students do either a written or verbal test to determine the best level for them to join. All core textbooks are imported and prescribe to the International requirements for EFL [English as a Foreign Language] teaching.
We assist students in the preparation for the TOEFL and Cambridge examinations and provide them with the necessary materials. To register for the international examinations, please visit the respective websites and register and pay online.
Accommodation
We have a selection of English-speaking homestay families that stay close to our school. In most cases students would need to use public transport. The homes are in safe areas and we try to place students close to one another.
Homestay accommodation includes breakfast, dinner, linen, laundry and airport transfer.
The families include the students in their social outings and interact with the students on a daily basis.
We certainly recommend homestay accommodation. Usually we place 1 student with a family but upon request 2 students can share a room in a family home. If you have any allergies to pets, are vegetarian or have any specific requirements, please mention this when booking.
Some students prefer to do their own catering. We assist with finding this sort of accommodation too.
Hotels, Guesthouses or backpacker accommodation can also be booked on behalf of the students.
Up-to-date prices on all the accommodation options could be made available to students who wish to book such accommodation. Please e-mail us your requirements.
Activities
South Africa is often referred to as a 'world in one country', simply because it has such an extraordinary range of scenic splendor.
From snow-capped mountains to rugged, rocky coastline or endless beaches, coral reefs to desert dunes, open grasslands to meandering rivers, we really do have something of everything.
You may want to choose just one particular environment, or try to squeeze in a representative slice of each. At the end of the day, you may just realise that you need to come back again, and again.
