The International School ExeterExeter, England The Language School
We are one of the oldest English Language schools in England, and the biggest in Exeter. We have been teaching English to overseas students of all ages and from all over the world for almost 50 years. We are a fully functioning school operating all year round in our own permanent buildings, surrounded by beautiful gardens with all the facilities you would expect. Over almost half a century we have made friends with many local families who can provide superb quality home-stay accommodation for you.
Like all good English language schools in this country, we are accredited by The British Council. This means our school is regularly inspected and must comply with strict regulations relating to school premises and facilities, teacher qualifications, quality, administration and welfare. We are also active members of ARELS (the Association of Recognised English Language Schools). In fact, we were founder members of the original ARELS way back in 1960. Finally, the School is also a founder member of the Quality English Group - a select range of schools that confirm to standards of excellence in academic and welfare areas.
The Location
Exeter is a one of England\'s most attractive cities, and is of course very close to the superb natural beauty of the South-West. Accommodation
We are very proud of the superb group of local families who host our students and we feel that the quality of the homestay accommodation is one of our most attractive features. Of course the beauty of Exeter as a place to study English is that it is still a real town full of real English people, and our families are real families, not impersonal boarding houses. Staying with a friendly family and studying in a good school gives you total immersion in the language and that brings real progress fast. We have a permanent Welfare and Accommodation Department responsible for the careful selection and continuous assessment of our familes to ensure a very high standard.
Students wishing to make their own arrangements for accommodation are, of course, free to do so. Alternatively we can help you to find accommodation in a range of local hotels and guest houses.
Activities
The International School Social Programme is prepared for you by our Social Organisers who are employed full-time all year round to see that you get the most of your free time and provide something of interest for all of our students. Many of the events we organise are free. Excursions and activities which are at extra charge are never too expensive.
